Wimbledon Championships 2016 – Seeding’s Released

The seeding’s for the 2016 Wimbledon Championships have been revealed; with defending champions Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams seeded top for the Men’s and Women’s singles.

The draw for the most prestigious championships in tennis will take place on Friday morning. British No.1 Andy Murray has been seeded number two for Wimbledon, fresh off the back of his claiming a record fifth title at the Aegon Championships at the Queen’s Club.

The 29-year-old has recently reunited with world-renowned coach Ivan Lendl as he bids to win his second Wimbledon crown.

The announcement of the seeding’s means that Djokovic and Murray would not meet until the final, in what would be a record-equalling eighth Grand Slam final between the pair.

Djokovic arrives at the tournament as the world’s finest player and he will be looking for a third consecutive title at the All England Club; fresh on the back of victories at the Australian Open and the French Open.

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is seeded at number three and will be aiming to make it to a 10th final at his favourite venue. The Swiss superstar is not the force of old, but as he proved last year he can still mix it with the best on grass-courts.  While Stan Wawrinka (2015 French Open Champion) has been seeded fourth.

Williams tops women’s seeds for Wimbledon 2016

Serena Williams continues to be the most dominant player in the women’s game and she will once again head the seeding’s in 2016.

The 34-year-old is chasing a seventh Wimbledon crown and a repeat of last year’s final with Garbine Muguruza looks to be on the cards; with the French Open hero seeded number two.

British No.1 Johanna Konta is seeded 17th and will be hoping for another strong Grand Slam showing after reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier in the year. Elsewhere Aegon Birmingham Classic star Madison Keys is seeded 10th and will be looking to continue her excellent recent form.
